Attributes of Montessori Art
The attributes of Montessori art can be expressed with these words:
- **Sensorial / Sensory** — the child engages with colour, texture, smell.
- **Unique** — the work is the child's own, never a copy of a template.
- **Intriguing** — materials invite curiosity and exploration.
- **Patient** — there is no rush, and the child sets the pace.
- **Creativity / Creative** — the process is open-ended.
- **Time** — the child is given as much time as the work requires.
- **Flexibility** — the materials can be used in many different ways.
Notice what is **not** on this list: "neat", "fast", "result-centred", or "teacher-led". Montessori art is about exploration.
