How Montessori Prepares Children for Technology
Montessori prepares children to live their future practical lives in the best possible manner. Through its teaching methods, it also prepares the child to use technology **properly**.
A Montessori-trained child becomes able to perform the following activities using technology:
- **Procedural thinking** — following the steps of a digital task in order.
- **Fine motor control** with mouse, trackpad, or stylus.
- **Sequencing** — knowing what action follows what.
- **Self-regulation** — knowing when to stop and step away from a screen.
- **Critical evaluation** — judging whether the digital tool is the right tool for the job.
By developing concentration, independence, and self-discipline in the early years, the Montessori child is far better prepared to be a thoughtful user of technology — not its passive consumer.
