Movement Pattern of Children — Observation No. 1
Dr. Montessori observed that children **must move** to learn. Movement is not a distraction from learning — it **is** learning, especially in the early years.
When children are allowed to move freely in a prepared environment:
- They engage more deeply with materials
- Their concentration spans grow longer
- They develop coordination, balance, and bodily awareness
- They retain concepts better, because the body and mind learn together
This observation became one of the central principles of Montessori pedagogy.
