The Physical Domain
Child development is studied across three interlinked **domains**:
- **Physical Domain** — gross motor skills (running, climbing), fine motor skills (grasping, writing), and bodily coordination.
- **Cognitive Domain** — thinking, problem-solving, language, memory, and reasoning. Piaget's **sensorimotor** and **operational** stages live here.
- **Social and Emotional Domain** — relationships, empathy, self-regulation, and identity.
A holistic ECE program intentionally develops all three domains, recognising that growth in one supports growth in the others.
