Remember, ASD is a spectrum, meaning it affects individuals in a wide range of ways, and some children may not display the stereotypical behaviors commonly associated with the condition.
Following are some indications that a child may have autism:
• Avoiding eye contact
• Not responding to their name by 12 months
• Diminished facial expressions
• Difficulty expressing needs or desires
• Appearing deaf or unresponsive at times
• Not initiating activities or social interactions
• Repetitive movements (rocking, hand-flapping)
