Step 2 — Passing the RBT Competency Assessment
After completing your coursework, you must pass the RBT Competency Assessment, administered by a qualified BCBA.
Assessment Methods
Competency can be demonstrated through:
• Role-play
• Direct interaction with a client
• An interview
According to the BACB, the initial competency assessment consists of 20 assessment items that the BCBA observes and scores.
